Air Quality Services for the Province of Zeeland, the Netherlands |
![]() |
This service provides air quality information for the province of Zeeland, located in the south-west of the Netherlands. The service is operated by BMT ARGOSS. The service consists of two parts: daily air quality forecasts and air quality analysis reports based on a historical database of air quality information. Information is provided to the province of Zeeland on the following pollutants: O3, NO2, NO, SO2, CO, CH4, NH3, PM10, and PM2.5. The service is based on a chain of numerical models combined with satellite data and other observations of weather and air quality data. High resolution weather data is obtained from the Weather Research and Forecasting model (WRF), operated on a daily basis at BMT ARGOSS. Air quality information is then obtained from the CHIMERE model, also operated at BMT ARGOSS. Boundary conditions for the air quality model are obtained in cooperation with PROMOTE partners KNMI (forecast) and the Rhenish Institute for Environmental Research (RIU) (hindcast).
The sample results below are from the daily weather and air quality forecast service for October 6, 2008, 12:00 UTC. Daily forecast results can be accessed through the forecast website http://promote.argoss.nl/argoss/weather. The site is password protected, access can be requested from Hein Zelle at zelle@argoss.nl. Please note that access can only be granted to PROMOTE partners! The air quality service has been operational since April 2008.
